Our Mission

johnnypuppy

Our goal, here at Drycreek, is to produce a Labrador Retriever that above all else is of sound body and temperament, who can become your cherished family pet, and retrieve waterfowl or upland game for your table.

To accomplish this we breed only sires and dams who have passed multiple genetic clearances, including orthopedic, heart, and eye clearances.

We were very fortunate to co-own, with SureShot Labradors, a Labrador sire who was one of the top-producing Sires in the United States. His name, Int., Luxemburg, Netherlands, and Am. Ch. Raintree Slippery When Wet JH.

“Brodie” was  the sire of 91 titled progeny, many with performance titles as well as conformation championships. We invite you visit
our “boys” page to see other up and coming sires, all of whom will be busy proving themselves either in the show ring or field or hopefully both.

Drycreek Labradors, established in 1983 with the purchase of our first purebred Labrador puppy, Sailin’s Fleet Mckenna CDX, CD, WC “Mckenna” was the start of what led to a passion for breeding, training, and competing with our Labradors.  At the present we are located on 16 acres outside of Patterson, Ca.

Although Steve and I started out competing in AKC obedience and conformation shows, we were introduced to an organization called NAHRA, the North American Hunting Retriever Assoc. NAHRA and a man named Richard Walters, were the founders of the modern day “Hunt Tests”.

Richard’s concept was quickly copied by the American Kennel Club. It is through NAHRA and AKC hunt tests that we strive to prove the natural instincts and trainability of our Labrador Retrievers.

We also strive to produce Labradors that fit the standard of our breed,
with soundness and temperament being paramount. Although not all of our dogs are conformation champions, most are either pointed at major Labrador Specialties or have received placements at specialties at “all breed shows.”

Steve and I have earned “Hunting Retriever titles” on the majority of the Labradors we have owned. Although we have slowed down in our training program, we were successful in completing titles on three NAHRA Master Hunting Retrievers, one of which, Covey,  was also an AKC Master Hunter. Three of our Labradors have also won our Club’s coveted “Gun Dog Ch. title.
